School of Politics and Public Administration
School of Politics and Public Administration (SPPA) at South China Normal University (SCNU) comprises four academic departments, namely the Department of Politics & Administration, the Department of Public Administration, the Department of Education Economics and Administration, and the Department of Management Science. SPPA currently offers four Bachelor’s programs, including Politics & Administration Science, Public Administration, Public Affairs Management, and Management Science. All of these four undergraduate programs in our School have listed into the National First-Class Undergraduate Majors.
SPPA has 61 faculty members and 11 staff members. Our faculty members are among the top researchers in their disciplines, including 17 full professors, 25 associate professors, and 19 lecturers. Our School constitutes General Affairs Office, Undergraduate Affairs Office, Graduate Affairs Office, Continuing Education Office, Training Center for Civil Servants, and Training Center for Principals and Teachers of Primary and Middle schools.
The School owns three disciplines including Political Science, Public Administration, as well as Management Science & Engineering. Among of them, both Political Science and Public Administration were selected as the key disciplines among dozens of universities and colleges in Guangdong Province. For graduate education, SPPA now provides one doctoral program in Public Management, two master’s programs in Political Science and Public Administration, as well as three master's programs for professional degree, namely Master of Public Administration (MPA), Master of Engineering Management (MEM), and Master of Education (ME).
SPPA is home to a variety of research institutes at provincial, municipal, and university level. They are “Research Center for Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Education and Social Integration ”, “Research Center for Local Governance and Policy Consulting of Guangdong Province ”, “Research Center for Modern University Governance with Chinese Characteristics”, “Research Center for National Audit and Public Governance ”, “Research Center for Women and Children Affairs in Guangzhou”, “Research Center for Politics and International Relations in the Asian-Pacific Region”, “Center for Cross-Regional Governance and Public Policy Research of GBA (Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area)”, “Research Center for Children’s Development and Education ”, etc.
Our School that places emphasis on domestic and overseas academic exchanges and cooperation has established comprehensive relationships for academic exchanges with many prestigious universities in various countries and regions, including those in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, France, as well as Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. A large proportion of the faculty members have the experience studying abroad and many of them hold Ph.D degrees.
